In 2017, Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee, part of Ascension, was awarded the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s (MMSD) Green Luminary Award.

The hospital was honored for its half-acre green roof that absorbs rain while protecting the roof. Green Luminaries are recognized by MMSD for leadership in promoting and installing green infrastructure to capture, cleanse and reduce storm water runoff and the resulting pollution.
