This morning, West Michigan’s 13 ON YOUR SIDE Morning Show broadcast live from the new rooftop sculpture garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens (Grand Rapids, Michigan). The new addition to the botanical gardens opened to the public at 9AM on May 17.
Update: On May 24, Fox 17 also broadcast live from the green roof.
The green roof plant design was a collaborative effort, with heavy input from the horticultural staff at FMG. LiveRoof, LLC worked with the design firm, building owner, and the installation contractors to custom grow this green roof using the LiveRoof Standard and LiveRoof Deep systems.
LiveRoof modules were custom grown in the shape of the installation over the summer of 2018.
The green roof was instantly mature at the time of installation in fall 2018.
The rooftop garden was opened to the public in spring 2019.
