LiveRoof living roof installed on National Building Museum

Washington D.C./ February 21st, 2013 – LiveRoof® and Riverbend Nursery, Inc. will feature a LiveRoof® system at the National Building Museum’s new exhibition, Green Schools, featuring the Sprout Space™ modular classroom.  The exhibition opens to the public on Sunday, March 3rd.  The installation of this new green space is tentatively set for Wednesday, February 27th and the National Building Museum will host a Media Preview of their entire exhibit on Thursday, March 28th from 10am – 12noon. The Green Schools exhibit will be introduce schools throughout the country which have installed green roofs on their buildings. Riverbend Nursery also donated modules for the new Green Schools Exhibit called Sprout Space™ at the National Building Museum.

 

The entire Exhibit features a range of K-12 green projects and demonstrates green school design possibilities. Visitors will be able to touch, feel, and see the green features of a Sprout Space™ classroom. The LiveRoof modules donated by Riverbend Nursery and LiveRoof® will include a mix of drought-tolerant plants grown specifically for use in on rooftops in Washington D.C.’s climate. The modular classrooms offer a cost effective and healthy solution for new school construction.

 

Scott Titanish, LiveRoof Area Sales Manager for Riverbend Nursery and licensed LiveRoof® Grower, understands the needs of school buildings as well as the benefits provided by a green roof installation. “I’m honored that the National Building Museum is offering this exhibit to the public and allowing visitors to see up close what a green roof can do.”

In the past two years, a number of area school districts have installed LiveRoof® green roofs on new and existing buildings.
